Free Hadley Course for Blind Travelers
Online Seminar Offers Low-Vision Travel Planning Techniques and Tips

Whether you are planning a vacation for yourself or your family, or if you teach independent living skills to people who are blind or visually impaired, “On the Road Again: Travel Planning, Techniques and Tips” the latest seminar from the Hadley School for the Blind, can provide insights to make traveling more efficient and enjoyable. The course takes place online June 8, 2009 at 11:00 Central Standard Time.
Seminars@Hadley offers this lively discussion just in time for the summer travel season. Karen Woodfork, Hadley’s director of student services will moderate the discussion that will include three key Hadley participants: Ginger Irwin, a Hadley instructor; Sue Melrose, Hadley instructor, parent, and experienced blind traveler; and Dawn Turco, Hadley senior vice president and an accomplished low-vision traveler.
On the Road Again: Travel Planning, Techniques and Tips
Course topics include:
- Travel Planning: Tips for you and visually impaired family members
- Packing tips and tricks
- Techniques to stay oriented
- Developing travel-related street smarts
- Managing photos, memory books, and other travel treasures.
The 90-minute seminar will also include time for students to ask question and share ideas on travel.
How to Register for an e-Hadley Online Course
Persons interested in taking “On the Road Again” can register online on the Seminars@Hadley section of the school’s website.
Upon registering, enrollees are emailed a “Registered Participants Login” link and a user name and password.
Hadley facilitates courses using Talking Communities tcConference voice conference software. Students should use the link on the Technology Requirements page to download and install the most current software before entering the room.
Students are also encouraged to verify that they are able to access the online classroom at least 24 hours prior to the start of the event to allow time for troubleshooting.
